This afternoon, we had the pleasure of visiting the Church to attend the baptism of Sunny the Meerkat. His proud parents; Katie and Archie and his chosen Godparents; Elliot, Grace, Raymond and Sophia had key parts in the ceremony and have made their promises to Sunny. A special thank you to Hannah for her beautiful reading. We learned about the process of a baptism, as well as the key message and symbols. Sunny has now been welcomed into the world and into the Christian church. Congratulations Sunny!
Cherry class spent the afternoon exploring all sorts of everyday materials
They planned their own experiments and made observations.
Cherry class pretended to be birds flying overhead looking for worms.
We discovered a lot about camouflage.
Cherry class spent the morning investigating the uses and properties of different materials. We really enjoyed the science fair and we made posters of what we learnt when we got back to class.
Miss Hooper gave us a fantastic dry ice presentation and then Cherry class had great fun investigating reversible and irreversible changes!
We finished the week with our 'Change For Life' day. We had a great morning of assault course challenges and smoothie making and spent some time in the afternoon thinking about how we could be food smart! We thought of some changes we could make to our diet and lifestyle to make us more healthy.
Book Week has officially started :) Today we did lots of exciting things in class. We added our part to the whole school story 'The Strangest Zoo in the World!', we explored new stories inside and outside the classroom and we completed DEAR, (Drop Everything and Read!) which meant that when the bell rang, we did exactly that. Our favourite part of the day, however, had to be reading to Dillon the Dog! He loved our stories and we loved reading to him. It was very special!
During our writing competition, it was that time again, to drop everything and read!
World Book Day! The children arrived in fabulous costumes (thank you parents) and were excited to join the rest of the school for the Costume Parade. The winners were announced!
Costume Winners: Katie A and Max Bo
Writing Competition Winner:Joey-Lee
KS1 Pet Selfie Winners: Phoebe and Dylan
We then continued the day looking at The Enormous Crocodile - a favourite of Mrs Snow’s! The children enjoyed creating ‘Beware of the Crocodile’ posters to warn of the dangerous crocodile on the look-out for juicy children for lunch.
This afternoon we enjoyed a story in the art installation in the hall then did some paired reading with children from Maple Class which was a great success. We finished the day with the last chapters of our story in the Reading Safari. What a busy but fantastic week!
