Maple Term 5

English - Writing/researching for a radio advert

Today, the children ventured out into Hadlow Village across from the school and interviewed local shop-goers. We asked them f questions about their favourite shops, how often they frequent them, and polled them about which shops should be added to he village. After this, we went back to the classroom and worked in teams to graph the data in different ways.

Outdoor Maths - Living Things Hunt

Today for maths, the children went outside and spotted as many living things as they could. They will be using this data collected to construct a bargraph.

Artemis Fowl Book Corner & Theme

This term our class' theme is: 'A Little Magic Can Take You a Long Way.' We will be reading 'Artemis Fowl,' a book about a 12-year-old boy, a millionaire, a genius—and, above all, a criminal mastermind. But even Artemis doesn't know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEP-Recon Unit. These aren't the fairies of bedtime stories—they're dangerous! Full of unexpected twists and turns, Artemis Fowl is a riveting, magical adventure. I hope your child enjoys it! Our stunning start will be a creative immersion into the our class book with questioning, prediction and book cover design.

The Book Corner is now themed as a Sprite's potion and magic shop (in the story, Artemis' first stage of his villainous venture is meeting a Sprite [fairy] and entraps her into giving up her spell book. He copies this book and translates it and sets off on his plot to swindle and exploit a new species for Gold. Or does he?

The working wall is set up like a police investigation board. We will be adding files to it as we read more into the book.

Rollin'... Rollin'... Rollin' on a...

One of the fun activities every year is the Egg Rolling competition.  Third Place this year was Grace. Second Place was Charlie. And in First Place came Bailey.  Well done all of you! Lots of good sportsmanship was observed!
