I had the most amazing day today! I went today was the London Eye! I thought that if I rode to the top of the Eye (135 m high), I would be able to see the entire city of London. I didn't realise how big was! I could see about 25 miles in every direction because the weather was so nice (I’m told it rains a lot in London). It was a really clear day and I could just make out Windsor Castle. The whole revolution took about about 30 minutes, but in that time I learned a lot. I learned that the name of the river below is called the River Thames. I also learned that up to 25 people can ride in one of the capsules and that the whole spindle weighs over 300 tons and stands 23 m high! It was built and opened in the year 2000 and it took 7 years to construct. That is a long time to build something, but every year about 3 1/2 million people travel to London to ride the Eye. I'm sure glad I got a chance to be there and learn so much.
Another place I got to visit was Stonehenge, although this was yesterday...
In class, children would have been able to complete 3 paragraphs like the one above; facts mixed in with "pretend experience."
