Morning Oak Class

What a glorious sunny morning it is too! And, happy April Fool’s Day. Any pranks played? Find out about some of the best pranks played at BBC Bitesize.

Here is a letter to everyone from the author Michael Morpurgo - reminding us all how important reading is. You can never be bored or alone when you have a book to read. Read again your favourite book - I’m enjoying reading for the 110th time, The Tiger who came to tea and Mog the forgetful cat!

Keep your work coming and enjoy this time, best we can.

Take care,

Dear Oak Class

We are really enjoying seeing your work and getting updates from you all about how you are getting on.

Miss Leigh is finalising plans for next term and looking forward to us reading Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine together. If you want to try and get a copy, World of Books have plenty of copies and do free delivery 🚚.

There is also a great video of Rik Mayall reading it on YouTube.

For those who found finding fractions of amounts tricky, there are some great videos going out this week on the White Rose year 3 website home learning page https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/. Worksheet resources also available for free download.

There is also a fun equivalent fraction game - for a real challenge try levels 7-8!

And, if you are looking for a fun way to show your learning about the Tudors, why not write your own Horrible Histories comic book?

Keep enjoying your learning.

Happy Birthday Vincent Van Gogh - self portrait & Sunflowers

Monday 30th March 2020

Happy Monday Oak Class,

So, we Spring forward an hour (yes, that’s how I remember the clocks go forward 1 hour this time of year). More chance to enjoy the sunshine. Can you find out who put forward the idea of British Summer time? There’s a Kentish connection!

Clip of the day is David Attenborough meeting some adorable meerkats!

It is the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh’s birthday, today. Can you research some of his paintings and see if you can paint in his style? What did Vincent do to himself when he was unwell? (Clue in the self portrait).

Hope your first week of home learning has gone well. I have really enjoyed all the amazing work you have produced this week. Most of your great work is on the Your super work page (unless there has been a technical issue!).

Well done to those who have won Superhero learner certificates this week and I look forward to seeing more of your amazing work next week.

Don't forget, our MP is running an online live surgery TODAY at 3pm and wants to hear from you about you experiences of home learning, so far. You will need parental guidance as it is on Facebook at https://m.facebook.com/tomtugendhat/

Hello Oak Class

Miss Leigh is in school and looking forward to seeing some of the children today!

Great new resource - Miss Chapman has signed the school up to the First News website resources, a newspaper for children. Each child has their own log in and log in details which is on the useful website page. You can choose what activities you do and they include debates, comprehensions and news articles. https://ihub.firstnews.co.uk/
