Learning to Read and Write in Reception


During your child’s first year at school, they will learn all phase 2 and phase 3 sounds. We learn two sounds a week, following them in order from left to right as shown on the images below (s, a, t, p, i, n etc).

Use this clip to learn how the phonics sounds are pronounced. Please ignore the hand signs as we do not use these;
