School Council
What is a School Council?
A school council is a group of pupils elected by their fellow pupils to represent their opinions and raise issues with your headteacher in the school.
The school council can also take forward projects on behalf of the pupils, and be involved in planning and things like interviewing staff. To be effective, the school council must:
Represent all pupils and include as many people as possible
Take time to listen to all pupils and communicate their views
Feed back to pupils about what happened about their views
Make things happen – or explain why they can’t!
Our School Council for 2025-2026
Fundraising
This year we are fundraising for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance (KSST) and the Idunda Primary School in Kibakwe, Tanzania.
We recently had a visit from a volunteer at the KSST who gave a really interesting assembly about what the KSST do and how our money helps. It costs over £20m to cover the costs for just one year so any money that can be donated will really help.
We also have our school name, from previous fundraising, written on the bottom of one of their helicopters which is really exciting!
Last summer, Mrs Vanns visited Idunda Primary School and met all 700 pupils and staff. They performed songs, played games and showed off their gymnastics skills! She spoke to the staff about all their successes but also the many challenges such as their water supply and lack of furniture and space. We would like to raise money to go towards desks (they need 129!) and a toilet block as they only have 1 toilet for the whole school.
Previous Fundraising
Last year, we decided on 3 charities to raise money for- The Disasters Emergency Committee, the Hadlow Food Bank and the children's bereavement charity, Slideaway. We raised £431.67 through fundraising events including a Bring and Buy sale, a cake sale and Break the Rules day.
We also made a video to support the application for our Nurture UK award- you can find this on the Pastoral section of our website.
We can't wait to raise more money next year!
