School Council

What is a School Council?

A school council is a group of pupils elected by their fellow pupils to represent their opinions and raise issues with your headteacher in the school.

The school council can also take forward projects on behalf of the pupils, and be involved in planning and things like interviewing staff.  To be effective, the school council must:

  • Represent all pupils and include as many people as possible

  • Take time to listen to all pupils and communicate their views

  • Feed back to pupils about what happened about their views

  • Make things happen – or explain why they can’t!

Our School Council for 2024-2025

The Quiet Area

The Quiet Area is now completed, with help from the previous School Council who helped improve the condition of the outside space. We changed the Quiet Area by moving the location and replacing the furniture. We also have sourced lots of new resources and games for everyone to enjoy.

The Quiet Area has been well loved and used by our pupils and it's fantastic to see everyone enjoying it!

March Update

The Quiet Area is now finished! Miss Chapman, Mr McHugh and the School Council have worked really hard to create a space for the pupils to enjoy and appreciate the new games, stationery and furniture. It was officially opened by Mr McHugh (he got to cut the ribbon!) and Miss Chapman did a speech. We hope that the children can value this amazing new area and enjoy their time there.

Previous Fundraising

Last year, the School Council raised a total of £439.38 by doing a Cake Sale and a Break the Rules day. We decided on 3 charities to raise money for- Toilet Twinning, FRIEND Farm Animal Sanctuary and Hadlow Food Bank.

We bought lots of food to give out to families in need, twinned with a toilet in Tanzania (the money given helps with sanitary water and facilities) and donated to the Animal Sanctuary. We can't wait to raise more money this year!
