Spellings will be set here every week and will be tested or recapped with challenges every Friday. These will be words selected from the Sir Linkalot spelling and word exploration app (see letter from Miss Chapman). Please encourage your child to use the app to recap and consolidate their learning at home, then apply their spelling words in a fun, creative way (please see the documents under the Home Learning tad for further ideas).

Weekly Update: Week 2
Another busy week in Rowan Class; we are covering all areas of the maths and English curriculum, revising with key terminology exploration, focus on specific, individual targets and exam strategies. I am so very proud of the focus, ambition and determination shown by this amazing Year 6 class - you are all stars!
In Maths we have continued our revision focus on fractions, extending to mixed reasoning and word problems and measure. We have also started to create our own, detailed maths dictionaries - great understanding and creativity!
In English we have been working through a selection of varied comprehension tasks, focusing on higher value questions/answers and our retrieval and inference skills. We have also got stuck into our new class text: Where the World turns Wild - completing a summary, text analysis, setting description, character profile and diary entry.
In other news, our allotment plot is taking shape with strawberries, lettuce, tomatoes, sugar-snap peas and a selection of herbs and sunflowers. We also hope to complete the pond area soon, and start planting up the rockery - we will keep you updated!
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend!

It is never too late to start revising, please give you child the best opportunity of success with regular, focused revision session.
Weekly Update: Week 1
Welcome back to Term 5 - I hope you have all enjoyed a restful and sunny Easter!
This term we are firmly focused on the KS2 SATs, you should have received the exam dates via Parentmail and you child should have their revision pack/resources (handed out before the Easter break). Please ensure that you are encouraging your child to revise regularly, question them and get involved with their learning. Ideally, your child should be revising little and often, 20/30 minutes of focused home learning each day will make a huge difference to their success and their results - thank you in advance for all your extra support.
This week we have covered number, calculation and fractions with focused reasoning skills, creative revision strategies and reflective self-assessment. We have also started our new topic 'Treasures of Nature' with our exciting new text: Where the World turn Wild - some really detailed and effective writing!
Have a lovely weekend - keep revising and keep smiling!
